MY
NAME IS ASHER LEV
Chaim Potok’s most autobiographical
novel is also one of his most powerful, most moving, and most complex.
Asher Lev is a young man born with a gift. He is a painter of genius.
He is also born a Hassidic Jew to a father for whom art is at best foolishness,
at worst, sacrilege. Asher’s journey to adulthood is a journey
toward understanding himself, the worlds that claim him, and the nearly
impossible choices he must make.
