“I worked with Stefanie Zadravec to create a personal statement that expressed my aesthetic and goals clearly, concisely, and energetically. She was a kind, generous mentor who guided me through the daunting process of writing about my writing. Stefanie's insight and advice helped me write a personal statement that I was proud to include in my application to the Playwright's Realm Writing Fellowship. I'm now a Writing Fellow at the Realm, where I am developing a new play. Thank you, Stefanie and PlayPenn!” – Emma G., PlayPenn Student, Application Review Participant

"I owe a lot of my success in getting into grad school on my application. My application would not have been what it was without Stefanie Zadravec and PlayPenn's Application Review. She went through each line of my essay and gave me so many ways to focus what I was saying. She also took my resume and elevated it to something that is incredibly professional. I was proud of my application when I sent it to Carnegie Mellon and felt like I had been given tools that would help me with any application that I worked on in the future. Stefanie is an incredibly intelligent and caring person and she fully brings those qualities into this. I can't recommend working with her enough " -Ryan H., Application Review Participant

Application Review

Application Review offers the opportunity for playwrights working on grant, fellowship, and graduate school applications to receive personalized feedback on application material from award winning playwright and New Dramatists resident, Stefanie Zadravec.

This service is ideal for the writer who feels their application materials aren't making the necessary impact.  For many writers it's difficult to write about the work they create in a way that feels authentic.  Stefanie will help you sharpen your applications, present a cohesive work sample, and give you tools for creating stronger applications by developing ways of writing about yourself and your process in a way that stands out, yet feels specific, personal and real.

Playwrights have worked with our editor Stefanie when applying for MFA and MA programs, fellowships, grants and production opportunities.

It's a four step process:

1. You will be asked to submit information regarding the application you are working on and up to 10-pages of the drafted application and materials for Stefanie to review.  Any work samples included in your ten pages will be evaluated in terms of impact and overall cohesiveness, not on merit.

Stefanie will only consult on one application at a time.

You should sign-up for the Rent an Editor program at least two weeks prior to your submission deadline.

2. Stefanie will meet with you for between 30-45 minutes by phone or Skype to discuss the application and  give personalized feedback and edit suggestions regarding this particular type of application.

3. You revise and resubmit up to 15 pages of your application and materials. (Keep in-mind, most playwriting fellowships, etc. only allow you to submit 15 pages or less of material.)

4. Stefanie will meet with you for up to 30 minutes by phone or Skype to discuss the revision.

Fee: $120
